Getting started in SCR Forum

Hello there!

Welcome to SCR Forum, a place for everything SCR. You might be a bit confused on how stuff works the first time you join this site.

We use Discourse, an open-source forum platform, which many other forum sites use (including the Roblox DevForum!). It might however seem a bit confusing at first. In this post, I’ll explain what you need to know before using the site!

“Topics”

A topic is a sort of “post”, a way to get conversations started. Creating a topic is as easy as clicking the “New Topic” button in the top-left corner. Clicking it will bring up a new window, which you can expand, or move over to the side.

WAIT! Before making a topic, use the search bar to see if any posts similar to your topic have already been made. Duplicate topics will be merged in with the original topic if deemed so by moderators.

When making a topic, pick the relevant category and tags. If you are unsure which category/tags are fitting for your topic, don’t hesitate to PM a moderator/admin!

If a topic has already been created, feel free to add whatever you wanted to say as a reply in an already existing topic.

Trust levels

SCR Forum uses a trust level system, you’re able to rank up by being active on the site, by interacting with posts, getting interaction on your posts, and simply just reading posts!

When you first create your account, you will be given the default trust level (which I will shorten to TL), TL0 (new member).

At TL0, you cannot

  1. Send personal messages to other users
  2. “Reply as new topic” via Link button (UI removed)
  3. Flag posts
  4. Post more than 1 image
  5. Post any attachments
  6. Post more than 2 hyperlinks in a post
  7. Have actual links in the ‘about me’ field of their profile (will be silently and temporarily converted to plain text)
  8. Mention more than 2 users in a post
  9. Post more than 3 topics
  10. Post more than 10 replies
  11. Edit your own posts after more than 24 hours

If this seems a bit limiting, it’s on purpose! TL0 is to help new users orientate themselves with the site, and ranking up is easy!

To rank up to TL1 (Basic), you must

  1. Enter at least 5 topics
  2. Read at least 30 posts
  3. Spend a total of 10 minutes reading posts

At TL1, you can

  1. Use all core functions; all new user restrictions are removed
  2. Send PMs
  3. Upload images and attachments if enabled
  4. Edit wiki posts
  5. Flag posts
  6. Mute other users

To rank up to TL2 (Member), you must

  1. Visit at least 15 days (not sequentially)
  2. Give at least 1 like
  3. Receive at least 1 like
  4. Reply to at least 3 different topics
  5. Enter at least 20 topics
  6. Read at least 100 posts (including replies)
  7. Spend a total of 60 minutes reading posts

At TL2, you can

  1. Use the “Invite others to this topic” button for one-click onboarding of new users to participate in topics
  2. Invite outside users to PMs making a group PM
  3. Daily like, edit, and flag limits increased by 1.5×
  4. Ignore other users
  5. Edit your own posts for up to 30 days after posting

To rank up to TL3 (Regular), you must in the past 100 days

  1. Have visited at least 50% of days
  2. Have replied to at least 10 different non-PM topics
  3. Of topics created in the last 100 days, must have viewed 25% (capped at 500)
  4. Of posts created in the last 100 days, must have read 25% (capped at 20k)
  5. Must have received 20 likes, and given 30 likes.*
  6. Must not have received more than 5 spam or offensive flags (with unique posts and unique users for each, confirmed by a moderator)
  7. Must not have been suspended or silenced in the last 6 months

At TL3, you can

  1. Recategorize and rename topics
  2. Access a secure category only visible to users at trust level 3 and higher
  3. TL3 spam flags cast on TL0 user posts immediately hide the post
  4. TL3 flags cast on TL0 user posts in sufficient diversity will auto-silence the user and hide all their posts
  5. Make their own posts wiki (that is, editable by any TL1+ users)
  6. Daily like, edit, and flag limits increased by 2×

However, you can lose TL3 by dipping below the criteria in the last 100 days, with a 2-week grace period so you don’t constantly gain and lose your rank.

There is one final trust level, however it can only be granted by staff members and is currently disabled.

Abuse of any of your permissions will result in either a warning, temporary or even permanent suspension depending on the severity. We can also demote you back to a previous trust level if deemed necessary.
